I was struck by the demeanor of the crowd, not weeping and somber, but applauding, whistling, resurging and full of the American Spirit. They didn't need the President reassuring them. Instead, they gave him the Arizona Phoenix: a bird that rises from it's own ashes. The milling crowd awaiting the "service" included all the Women; Jan Brewer, the Governor who realized she'd have to get the job done without the feds and communicated to the People of Arizona 8 that the kidnapping and murders in Giffords' District would be addressed head on, as they come together. Napolitano, former governor and Home Land Security director whose "inaction" in an attempt to be politically correct to the guy who appointed her, is forced to endure the suffering of her own constituents.
Nancy Pelosi, Debbie Wasserman-Shultz and Kirsten Gillibrand comprised the "Girl Power" that OPENED THE EYES of Gabrielle Giffords. In their presence, and with all the energy of the National Powers That Be, the healing happened. But, it manifested to those who came to console and "see for themselves" what the residents had endured. What the President, the Minority Leader and the media observed was the Strong lending their reassuring grace to Powers That Believe Themselves To Be." What they saw was a community that refused to give Obama the unearned honorarium he has universally been handed everywhere else. The cultivators of the dessert, the tamers of the "Wild West" who will not indulge the pretentious prince and his sycophants showed up last night. They courteously gave ground to the Pres, who was there to see his hospitalized colleague. But they held their ground when the stage had been set for him to raise his "healing" hands of condescension of them. They showed - instiinctively - who needed healing. And in the moment of their first cheer, the People of Arizona, the People who re-elected John McCain for the umpteenth time, the People who dispensed with the preachy, "Christian" approach, and observed, instead, through the traditions and sentiments of NATIVE AMERICANS. We are not "inner city" helpless here. We are self-sufficient, self-respecting and self-actualizing. You work for US, and while you're here, we'll give you a quick tutorial in how we get it done.
Drug Thugs killing our ranchers? We're fashioning a defense. Illegal Immigrants exploiting the Fed's porous borders? We'll call them ILLEGALS and you'll recognize we're a State that leads by observing the LAW, by enforcing it! We're the tone-setters here. We'll communicate our standards, our expectations, our CODE of conduct and ethics to our Visitors. We stand in our 10th Amendment Soveriegnty and you'll respect us.
After weighing all that Arizona has endured, observing the demeanor of their leadership in response, I get this message: Arizona does not surrender, but, in fact exercises fully, its reserved powers. To the visitors, they have presented a dignified face, a gracious hosting attitude, but all the Force of The Ship of State. Battleship U.S.S. Arizona, moored at Pearl Harbor on the morning of December 7, 1941, is the symbol of our memories of entering World War II. The 1100 murdered by surprise attack are memorialized in Hawaii in the name of Arizona. A bit of tradition, of understanding, of recognition was communicated to the visitors.

Great observations- I never saw anything quite like this memorial service and with all the hooting and holloring it seemed more like a Campaign pepe rally than a funeral memorial. As for the speech - he hads great writers and there is no doubt he can deliver a great speech from the teleprompter.
But as far as i am concerned this was neither the time or the place for the PEP part or the intro they tossed in as he stepped to the plate.
No worry today is back to real time and he still has to deal with reality or pray God for a tragedy a month from here on out!
