Gretzky 99 Remember The " BO Knows" Smak-Down?

Years ago, flash jock Bo Jackson achieved the remarkable status of Major League Baseball and NFL All Star after winning the collegiate Heisman Trophy.  Nike celebrated its cross-trainer with a litany of sports about which Jackson was an authority.  Beyond baseball and football, so the ad proclaimed, Bo Knows basketball (affirmed by no less than the immortal Jordan, eyebrows boppin') weights and "Tennis?" intoned McEnroe.  As the exaltation mounted, a skater in NHL gear circled the ice in front of the net and simply confronted the camera with "No." in a "Get A Grip." demonstration of self respect.  "No Go: Bo Don't Know Hockey."  Anybody who roller-bladed and checked and high-sticked and decked knew it was not easy to make the transition from the contact sports of football and basketball to hockey.  Like Soccer, Hockey was a momentum game that placed every player in motion (except the goalie) and added the very legitimate "play" of launching one's body weight in full-on trajectory to knock an opponent off his skates.

Derived from "Boar Hog" nickname, BO was possessed of incredible strength and will.  His career was magnificent - the performances turned in across the sporting world were impressive and documented.  Had he wished, I expect he could have become a fabulous hockey player.  But Hockey was not the sport of choice for young boys who "looked like" Obama.  The Race thing played by the Obama Campaign was not a game for icers.  Despite its popularity in Canada, few of the men who came to the NHL were black.  Unlike Baseball and Football where they dominated in both numbers and money, the black men didn't find Hockey to their liking.  In the rinks and streets of Atlanta, Chicago and New York, the most fabulous skaters were often African American, but their skills asserted more of their grace, their dance moves and their musicality.  Hockey just didn't work with the tunes, Savvie?

I couldn't help thinking of this ad as I watched the President, who signs his name with a huge B and O miniaturizing by contrast,  the _arak and _bama.  His dog, also named BO, a Portuguese water spaniel, is a black/white parody of his iconic master (although Ceasar Millan would disagree that the Big BO possesses any mastery over his K-9 BO.)

So, you know, I'm no go on the dissing of Romney, former CEO of enough business activity to actually know of whence he Opines.  Sure, the Occupant of the Oval Office has the "title" but it is neither convincing nor documented that he actually knows how to work together except to take direction from his handlers, not unlike a dog himself.  It is his goal to displace the ranking Big Dawg on the Democratic Party hit parade and performance record log.  But, again:  "It's like tryin' to tell a whaat girl She Don't Know!" He's dug in the heels and pulled rank and chucked his shoulders all haughty and pompous.
He's pitchin' his "Look: fill in the blank schtick" with the same "It's-true-because-I-say-it-is-and-we're-all-in-agreement-with-anything-I-say" game.

It ain't so, Barak Obama.  As the great Gretzky circles back to emphasize:  "NO!"  I don't care how many of those Promo Bo's push this, and beat down those who don't Party Unity with them, I can check this lightweight off his blades without any resistance and it's because I KNOW!!! damnit!  I KNOW HE DON'T KNOW what he's doing, what he's showing the world, how what he's trying to pass off as superiority and savvy looks to the Voters.  Remembering Gretzky's chutzpah reassures me that even when the Pitch-Man is hawking the "truth" down front, the closers and commissioned earners in the back are hearing all of his schtick while they're writing up their orders and turning in their paper work for the sales they produced, booked, collected for and delivered.

I know too, that when guys close ranks and lock out women, the truth is they've opted to cheat.  They've played the "What Women Don't Know Won't Hurt US" Game and it's just easier to cut them out and consume their provisions as though the battle of the sexes is the game of record.  When Women relent and forgive their pathetic excuse for men cheaters, they let the ego-driven creeps take the cake and prance around all authoritarian and chest-thumping and dominant.  But when he leaves for the day, they look their kids in the eye and all agree, Daddy is a big brat who doesn't get the spanking he deserves because he's a phony rat who will just push us around if we call him on it.  So WE KNOW to just bite our tongues, "eat it" for another day and keep growing up until we can look him in the eye, and - without a word - connect a knock-out Check-Mate! to his glass jaw and knock him off his fragile perch of part ego, part bluster.

Kids get it.  They compare the image of Romney, Father of Five Men, and Obama, Father of Daughters who routinely reveal their "not-fooled" view of his mendacity, and are, likewise, "not fooled."

Unlike Jimmy Carter who put an emphatic "Close Book End" on the Imperial Presidency of The Nixon-Ford era by emerging with Rosalyn from the fortified limo to walk the last blocks to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in the sunshine, declaring with his actions, that the President will be One of Us, not One Supported, Glorified, Secured and Imposed ON us.  While Carter carried off the Wilsonian / Teddy Roosevelt Progressive Agenda with considerable success   http://millercenter.org/president/carter/essays/biography/4   his media coverage, unlike the Mini Me he endorsed in 2008, was unfavorable.  I'm amazed, in reading the University of Virginia Miller Center review of his Presidency, how much Carter actually accomplished and how much of the word-by-word similarities exist in comparisons to the current White House.  His Brother Billy was found to have taken a boatload of cash from - wait for it - LIBYA and the Press managed to turn his every move into an unflattering image for the evening news.  So, when the pressures and challenges of the international scene oppressed him, the News Boys and the Late Night Comics made "relief" their mission and the seriousness of Carter's Agenda was undercut.  Scandals that were ultimately disproven, nevertheless received unrelenting play in the press.
Even without the scandals, Carter would not have had good press relations. He seemed aloof and condescending, stiff and impersonal with reporters. They chafed at his moralistic, "eat your peas" attitudes, and portrayed him... as either a cynical and manipulative politician or an amateurish incompetent. Carter was not physically clumsy like Ford, but his media images always came out wrong.
Wrap Back to old "files" of players and factors, it is ironic that the Bryzinski Family / Columbia University Zbignew who so enjoyed status in the Carter years and vied with the Soviets for power, now populate the Obama Administration but with starkly contrasting media support.

So, BO's Hos, what is it?  Are you just settin' at the fulcrum of the See-Saw, like Kentuckians, making your lousy bucks no matter who's in or what's right?  't seems nothin' the 4th Estate does sets right with me anymore.  My original wish to be a journalist was over-ruled by my 9th Grade English teacher, Sister Patricia, Daughters of the Divine Redeemer, who considered Journalism too restrictive for my strength, which was "transitional" skill.  Heck, wrap back, again, ASIG Brenda, remind us why we work.
